Train timetable sees huge cuts to Stirling District rail

Scotrail have just announced a new timetable which reduces the number of services to Stirling District stations, particularly in the evening.

Mondays-Fridays:

If you’re returning to Dunblane, Bridge of Allan, or Stirling from Edinburgh, the last train leaves Edinburgh at 20:03. The service before that is now the 18:35 for Bridge of Allan and Dunblane.

If you’re returning to Dunblane or Bridge of Allan from Glasgow Queen St, the last service leaves at 19:10. The service before that is the 17:10.

If you're returning to Stirling from Glasgow Queen Street, the last service is the 19:49.

You can see the new timetable in full by clicking the link at the bottom of this page.

Months after being nationalised by the Scottish Government, huge cuts that remove up to 30% of services have been announced with this timetable, which we are told is "temporary"- but which doesn't have an end date. A total of 700 services have been removed, that's almost a third of the total.

The Scottish Government is discussing with rail unions an agreement which will end the deadlock over pay. However driver shortages have been a problem for some time, and the Scottish Government have had plenty of time to get together a plan to resolve this.

This is yet another failure from the SNP Scottish Government, who can add this to their tally of failures alongside buying and losing money on Prestwick Airport, and failing to build new ferries for Calmac.
